Job Description

You are a leader, driving strategies that increase acquisition of new members to Vancity, decrease attrition and increase depth of relationship. You will have an expert understanding of the brand, our business and the levers for growth.You will be responsible for leading and motivating a team of Marketing Managers and Specialists who will support you in setting the strategy, executing the plans and measuring performance.This competitively rewarded role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, in-person events or activities will be required of you.A typical day involves:

  • Leverage business acumen to provide strategic planning, business enablement and marketing advice for multiple lines of business and translate that into marketing solutions.
  • Guide Marketing Managers in setting marketing strategy for assigned lines of business to help reach organizational KPIs.
  • Lead initiatives with external vendors/agencies to produce the best marketing outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the analytics and insights team to ensure thorough measurement of marketing activity against short-term and long-term metrics and connecting results to opportunities for iteration, optimization and improvement.
  • Work closely with the Researchamp; Insights team to develop research projects so that we can gather insights on potential target audiences and membership to inform strategy, translating the strategy into marketing briefs.
  • Manage a team of engaged marketing managers and specialists executing marketing initiatives across multiple lines of business.
  • Work alongside and effectively communicate with senior leaders to articulate ideas and concepts clearly, being seen as a credible trusted advisor.
  • Work both independently and with the team, relying on strong influencing skills to achieve results.
You are:
  • An expert business operational navigator - you understand how to drive balanced growth against organizational priorities and can pivot based on market changes. You know where to dig deep, where to delegate and where to prioritize to achieve results.
  • A dynamic communicator-- with great interpersonal and communication skills, you create a clear understanding of expectations; you address escalated challenges and issues in reporting areas; and you represent the functional area across the organization.
  • A strategic planner - you plan and coordinate to establish functional strategies and initiatives; and you lead development of integrated services and programs. You connect the dots across the business to provide more effective and efficient solutions.
  • Curiousamp; innovative - you #39;re on top of industry, political and economic trends and are constantly looking for new marketing initiatives to test. You #39;re able to interpret the macro environment and understand what #39;s relevant to your team, recommending a course of action. You identify risks and opportunities that may impact the business unit and or designated area.
  • Knowledgeable - you have advanced knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of marketing across the full consumer lifecycle. You #39;re able to implement hands-on growth, acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Analytical - you are data-driven in your approach and can skillfully interpret customer, campaign and market data, recommending changes and optimizations.
You have:
  • University Degree, preferably in Marketing or Business. MBA/post graduate preference.
  • 8-15 years of professional experience of in marketing, demonstrating increasing scope and responsibility.
  • Proven experience leading engaged marketing teams by being personable, collaborative and inspiring.
  • An understanding of marketing technology and tools, such as CRM systems and analytic tools.
  • Superior knowledge of developing marketing strategies for growth marketing and managing the associated budgets.
  • Superior ability to bring new innovative marketing approaches to life and constantly evolve best practice.
  • Superior digital marketing skills to optimize digital marketing programs.
  • Superior knowledge of strategic business drivers and how these translate into marketing strategy.
  • Superior skills in quantitative analysis to aid in decision making, specifically understanding of key metrics at different stages of the funnel.
  • Superior skills in communication, presentation, influencing, and leading/facilitating group interactions.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with high performing colleagues.
