• Create and support large custom scientific applications within the Zymeworks ecosystem to aid the functionality of the end users
• Design services and applications that are modular, scalable, secure and meets the target architecture
• Collaborate with scientists and bioinformaticians to condense complex requirements, design prototypes, and deploy production grade software and third-party tools for internal users
• Participate in peer code reviews, regression testing, and systematic deployments
• Integrate and maintain the developed software as part of the entire computational platform
• Experiment with new technologies and ideas to enhance the maintainability, simplicity, and robustness of our internal platform
• Create browser-based visualizations, user interfaces for web applications, and data analysis tools tailored to our scientists #39; R amp;D needs

Education and Experience

• 3 or more years of industry experience in backend/full-stack development

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to collaborate in cross functional team environment
• Proven ability to assume ownership of a software application including design, implementation, and maintenance
• Ability to deliver rapid, iterative prototypes from initial ideas, and a drive for software development excellence
• In depth knowledge of backend technologies
• Experience developing modular applications in Python and Go
• Experience with REST API design and development
• A good grasp of web standards and browser technology (HTTP, HTML, JS, CSS)
• Proficiency in English, spoken and written

Preferred to have that helps you succeed:

• Experience in cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, Google cloud)
• Experience with functional languages (Haskel, Scala, Clojure etc.)
• Knowledge of one or more of the following languages: C++, Java, Rust, Elixir, Elm
• Experience with cluster computing technologies - SLURM, Dask or Celery
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Mesos, containerd)

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canadian locations.
