Job Description

Position Information:

  • This position is available on our dynamic and innovative team at Numerix. The position will allow the student to join in design, development, support and operations of a large-scale enterprise-level distributed platform built for high performance computing and analytics. The student will be a great addition to a team of 6 people who directly report to VP. But will be working more closely with 2-3 team members.
  • Location: We have an option to work remotely or in our Vancouver office and will be following BC health guidelines
  • Department: Development - Compute Services
  • Directly reporting to: VP, Enterprise Systems Development
  • Full-time internship starting Sept. 2022 for 4 months with possibility of extension.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Participate in all phases of the agile software development process (design, estimation, development, testing)
  • Provide support for the Compute Services products
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application problems
  • Assist team members with technical and administrative projects as required
  • Adapt to evolving technologies and processes
  • Document internal policies and procedures
  • Continually update skills and knowledge to meet departmental and company requirements
Requirements:
  • 3rd/4th year student in a Bachelor of Computer Science program or equivalent
  • 1+ years of recent object-oriented programming experience
  • Preferably in Java
  • Python and other languages are okay
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong learning and communication skills
  • Able to follow a well-defined development process
  • Ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team
  • For remote work, a working computer and internet connection
Preferences:
  • Experience with Spring, SQL, Maven, SVN, Git, TeamCity, or Jira
  • Experience with building and supporting software for use in live production environments
  • Experience with troubleshooting memory consumption and performance issues
  • Understanding of thread safety, inter-process communication and fault tolerance
  • Canadian Citizenship or PR
