Job Description

Closing Date: November 6, 2023 at 4:00 PMCOLLEGE OF EXTENDED LEARNING The College of Extended Learning (CEL) is the primary lifelong learning outreach vehicle for the University and carries critical community-building and revenue-generation functions. CEL is an educational entrepreneurial unit of UNB that contributes to the economic, social, and cultural life of the province by providing educational programs and services to a wide spectrum of learners within New Brunswick and beyond its borders. Four programming units and three core services units comprise CEL. As such, we are proud to support a hybrid work approach, which includes flexible hours and work-from-home options.Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per weekSalary Range: $54,358 - $70,665 per annumYOUR FOCUSReporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Financial Operations is accountable for the fiscal and regulatory financial management of CEL, including budget accountability, analysis, compliance, and approval of spending. This position works with all Directors at CEL and is accountable for preparing, submitting and approving annual budget submissions to the University.

  • Create budgets and revenue expectations and ensure overall operations work within budgets.
  • Collaborate with unit directors and align the budget with the target.
  • Lead a team of four. Manage unit staff access to IT Services.
  • Analyze financial data to provide direction and support.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial, CRA Regulations and UNB requirements.
  • Ensure the legitimacy of expenses and sign-off follow compliance regulations of the University standards.
  • Create quarterly forecasts and meet with Resource Planning and Budgeting to provide updates on financial performance.
  • Provide cost analysis, ROI calculations, and create financial budgets for new and existing programs.
  • Monitor workshops/seminars/programs and provide financial reporting and expertise.
  • Prepare financial reconciliation statements, invoices and reports for internal and external partners.
  • Sign and process all financial documents.
  • Maintain customer service and administration standards.
  • Provide sound financial and administrative advice to the Executive Director.
  • Serve as CEL representative on various internal committees concerning the development of new products or services enhancements.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • University Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a financial position.
  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
Additional Strengths
  • Post Graduate Accounting Certificate or other related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Experience in strategic planning and budget planning/ monitoring is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial and business analysis is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of and experience with current accounting practices is considered a strong asset.
  • The ability to use Colleague is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management skills.
