Position Title: Scholars Program CoordinatorPay Range:$50,900 - $59,000Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.The Opportunity:Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Admissions, the Scholars Program Coordinator (SPC) will support the enrollment of the very best and brightest candidates for undergraduate admissions through the development and oversight of the scholar programs related to private, donor established or supported scholars programs. These include, but are not limited to, programs such as the Harvey Scholars, Grewcock Scholars, Starzer Scholars, the Daniels Fund Scholars, the Boettcher Scholars, and support to the Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) . This position assists and advises prospective/admitted scholars, promotes the mission of Mines through the development and implementation of recruitment, admission, enrollment and plans to meet scholar program goals. The SPC will be the lead contact in Admissions for prospective/admitted scholars and associated organizational partners. The position will serve as a liaison with other campus offices such as Financial Aid, the PASCAL Center, the CSM Foundation, and external partners such as the Denver Scholarship Foundation, the Daniels Fund and Boettcher.The SPC will provide routine comprehensive review of best practices to ensure the Enrollment Management team is reaching and communicating with our prospective students in a consistent and targeted way to achieve the enrollment goals of scholars as defined by the strategic goals of the university and donor intentions. The SPC will serve as an integral member of the Admissions team and will be involved in the recruitment, admissions, marketing, identification and enrollment of future scholars, as well as students in designated territories. They will also plan and implement several prospective/accepted scholar events throughout the admissions cycle. This is a full time, 12-month, administrative faculty professional exempt position.Responsibilities:Undergraduate Recruitment, Admission and Enrollment: The SPC will represent Mines at scheduled college Day/Night programs/events throughout Colorado. On rare occasion, travel outside the state may be necessary. The SPC will serve as a member of the First Year Admissions Evaluation Team. They will be responsible to make admission decisions and then counsel students on those decisions. The SPC will work closely with Mines academic and administrative faculty, and other personnel, to facilitate the successful recruitment, admission and enrollment of new students to Mines. Particular focus will be on prospective populations that are the strongest pipelines for the various scholar programs both internally and externally. The SPC will routinely meet with prospective/admitted students and their families as part of the Admissions Office’s on campus, individual and small group tour/information sessions. The position advises students, parents and serves as a liaison to the high school counseling offices and external community. The SPC will continually seek out avenues to build relationships and support high schools in their territory. This could include offering creative programming related to financial literacy, the college application process and STEM opportunities. Additionally, the SPC will provide support for the fall and spring on-campus, signature visitation programs. The position will support other recruitment programs, such as high school visits, college fairs, counselor workshops, and represent Mines through involvement with professional or community organizations that promote a similar mission to that of Mines Admissions Office.Scholar Programs: The SPC will coordinate scholar events for both internal scholar programs and partnership organizations. This includes (but is not limited to): semifinalist and finalist events, current scholar panels and campus visit programs for various scholar groups. The SPC will work closely with various campus offices and external partners to coordinate recruitment events and prospective/admitted scholar programming. They will also collaborate with scholarship organizations and incoming scholars to facilitate a smooth transition to Mines. This could include fostering connections with on campus support programs, communities and offices. This position also includes significant interaction and coordination with the financial aid office and PASCAL Center, among others. The SPC will provide necessary reports containing qualified candidates for internal scholarship review and will support distribution of necessary communications for scholarship awarding processes. They will also track scholar enrollment data and analyze reports to inform recruitment efforts. They will additionally update partner organization MOUs as needed and maintain synergetic relationships with them, while seeking opportunities for new agreements. Lastly, the SPC will provide necessary scholar program updates to the Admissions Team.Admissions Liaison with the Mines Foundation: Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison with the CSM Foundation fundraising and donor relations staff as it pertains to scholar recruitment. Propose fundraising opportunities to the CSM Foundation that will support the recruitment of future scholars to Mines. Promote scholarship programs, as applicable, to a variety of constituents, including faculty, staff, current Mines students, prospective students and families in order to increase the number of scholarships, scholarship applications and to fulfill donor intent.
