Being comfortable behind the wheel with 14 passengers, being able to drive defensively and be in control of the vehicle while interacting with your passengers as their first and last daily point of contact, will be an important skill set for the successful applicant for this role.The Van Driver/Maintenance person is primarily responsible to schedule and provide safe and efficient daily transportation of participants using a 15 passenger van. The program serves participants from Queens and Lunenburg Counties. Other duties include daily pick up of supplies, groceries, and mail for the program, cleaning, maintenance of the vehicle and scheduling regular motor carrier inspections. The Van Driver/Maintenance person has a Class 4 drivers license or higher, commercial or passenger transportation driving experience, a driver’s abstract free from accidents and violations, and can supply a suitable Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check at hire. The successful applicant will be required to obtain standard first aid certification within 30 days of hire and be willing to participate in professional development experiences as they relate to SSWAP and our support of participants.
