We remain proudly determined.Job PurposeThe Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for undertaking a variety of HR Administrative duties while contributing to the attainment of specific departmental goals and results. You take pride in ensuring employees have the best work experience possible while under the employ of the Nation; from recruitment through to exit. You have excellent advisory skills and are known for your ability to provide thoughtful advice and guidance to staff and leaders.Duties and ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Administration· Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and aid when able; or redirect inquiries to the appropriate person within the team· Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, new hire forms, leaves, turnover rates, statistics,) in both paper format as well as in a Human Resources Information System· Liaise with other departments for inter-related functions (payroll, benefits administration, performance management, training opportunities)· Maintains confidential human resources files, ensuring completion of performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner and any disciplinary documentation is maintained· Assists with the performance review processes· Assists with the enrollment and termination of benefits and pension plans; educates new employees and ensures that all staff are aware of the plan and coverage· Notifies Payroll when ROEs need to be issued or employees need to be re-instated post leaves· Reminds managers of approaching key dates such as the end of a probationary review period, or an employees anniversary date, and ensures the respective manager has the necessary paperwork readily available for these employee milestones· Assists with creating, updating and review of job descriptions· Assists in the preparation of disciplinary letters for Department Managers and attends disciplinary meetings as impartial witnessRecruitment and Orientation· Is heavily involved in the coordination of the recruitment and orientation process including;· Ensure adherence to our hiring policy as well as other related HR policies· Confirm positions have received the proper approvals from their respective managers· Verify job descriptions are up to date, accurate, and appropriately reflect the role· Format and prepare job postings, advertise positions on a variety of platforms, and manage postings· Collect and consolidate all applications and coordinate with the Department Manager to screen applicants, and assesses candidate knowledge, abilities and suitability· Arrange interview dates and times; contact applicants· Work with the Department Manager to ensure interview questions are developed and pertain to the role being interviewed for· Ensure the hiring manager conducts reference checks in a timely manner· Prepare letters of offer and seeks appropriate signatures· Liaise with the respective manager of a position to develop an onboarding plan· Conduct new employee orientation, ensuring all letters, forms, and policies are reviewed, signed, understood and delivered to the appropriate department for confidential filing· Ensures new employees receive the SFN Human Resources Employee Handbook· Maintains confidential human resources files, ensuring completion of performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner and any disciplinary documentation is maintainedPolicy Advice· Under the direction of the HR Lead, investigates employee complaints and disputes, then recommends appropriate resolution and action· Consults and provides advice and guidance to managers on matters pertaining to labor relations, workplace conduct, Canada Labour Code, employment standards, talent management, compensation policies, and procedures· Keeps current with changes to the Canada Labour Code as they pertain to our internal HR Policies; raises concerns or the need for updates to policy to the HR LeadQualifications and SkillsEducation· Diploma in Human Resources Management, combined with minimum 2 years of experience in recruitment or other human resource services and support; preference given to a degree in HRMExperience· Solid understanding of employment related legislation, regulations, and policies (Canada Labor Code, Employment Standards)· Experience working within and providing interpretation of the Canada Labour Code and as they apply to First Nations· Preference will be given to those with experience in a First Nations environment· Experience in conducting interviews and leading a recruitment process· Excellent oral and written communication including briefing and report writing skills· Detail oriented with strong analytical, time management and organizational skills· Well-developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills· Excellent oral and written communication skills· Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook· Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential informationWork Conditions· Work is performed primarily during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday· Occasional travel may be required within SFN community and surrounding communityWe thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
