Job Description

Position Summary:The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Field Services, the Transfer Station as well as Transportation operations. As an Operations Manager, you are responsible for all health and safety compliance, financial performance, business development, leadership and the overall operational excellence of the facility. This position is based in Pouce Coupe, British Columbia.Position Responsibilities:Health and Safety

  • Ensure all staff are abiding by Secure Energy’s Occupational Health and Safety Program and set a positive safety example to support Secure’s ongoing commitment to Zero incidents
  • Ensure safe, compliant, sustainable operations in all aspects of our work
Operational Excellence
  • Plan, direct, and administer the activities of the facility in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and operating policies and strategy.
  • Provide technical and operations support to all staff.
  • Ensure that all equipment is operated as per the instruction manual and / or Secure Energy Equipment Procedure Manual
  • Ensure customer waste streams are sent to the appropriate and approved facilities to ensure compliance
  • Ensure that all waste is handled as per Secure’s approval as defined by regulatory permitting
  • Ensure all storage and waste volumes are in compliance
Financial Performance
  • Ensure leadership in Accounts Receivable and Payable to manage an effective DSO
  • Work with the Finance group to ensure fiscal integrity and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Create and manage annual budgets as well as have the appropriate controls and reporting systems in place.
  • Work with finance to implement and improve upon the appropriate internal controls for reporting and tracking operating expense and volume trends.
  • Ensure a good understanding of the financial reports to promote KPI driven culture
Customer Service
  • Ensure the business unit and its services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image.
  • Manage and maintain contractual obligations with all clients in the region
  • Work closely with Field Sales to ensure that client needs are being met on a regular basis
  • Assist the business development team with new ideas for growth, recommend continuous improvement projects to support business unit operations and development.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry peers and major corporate players necessary for ensuring the company’s continued growth.
  • Facilitate new business development processes and work with Area Managers to provide necessary business case for change and/or improvement.
Leadership
  • Lead by Example to have a positive impact on the team
  • Facilitate regular discussions with staff regarding operational improvements, critically review and improve operational processes where required.
  • Assist, support and mentor operational staff, clarify workload expectations and help lead, inspire and develop them.
  • Build a sustainable succession plan with achievable milestones. Develop leaders within the span of control
  • Ensure effectiveness and reasoning for decision making to effectively manage change
Position Requirements:Technical Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a management capacity within the Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste Management, and/ or Project management sector; or comparable industry work experience, or demonstrated competency
  • Post-secondary education- Degree or Diploma in a related field
  • Strong computer software skills (MS Office Suite and other operational software applications), including the use of mobile devices
  • Valid and current Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Superior time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure; ability to deliver under compressed timelines and to manage the constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to develop, nurture and maintain strong relationships with Secure Energy internal and external clients
  • Experience in leading a group of people
