Job Description

Our client based in Grande Prairie is needing a Lead Blender / Shift Supervisor to start as soon as possible.As a globally recognized developer of innovative, safe, and sustainable technologies and products that are effective, technically advanced, and minimize impact to our environment while providing the highest levels of quality and safety.This position description represents an overview of the position and is not designed to cover all duties or requirements of the role.Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead a team to maximize productivity.
  • Establish a collaborative culture within the team that builds solid relationships across cross-functional teams.
Operations and Management:
  • Responsible for overseeing the execution of blending products as per blend instructions.
  • Maintain standards for the movement of materials within the operating area.
  • Responsible for reporting any equipment malfunction to the facility maintenance lead or shift supervisor.
  • Ensure team, equipment, and materials utilized efficiently through solid communication with staff and reporting to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Attend safety meetings, reviews, and reporting activities as required.
  • Open communication with all employees to ensure they are always working safely and communicating to minimize any unnecessary risk.
  • Ensure all manufacturing objectives are met efficiently and safely.
  • Establish and maintain complete confidentiality and security in and around facilities at all times, establish and follow procedures as required.
  • Maintain all appropriate documentation, safety, and ISO Certifications and employee training as required for your area of responsibility.
  • Attend daily and weekly operations meetings as required.
  • Communicate with Shift Supervisor and the team to ensure they are kept informed of all operational activities, incidents, risks, and forecasts in a timely manner.
  • Report immediately any operational or HSE issue to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Ensure all documents are maintained and completed for production.
  • Report all incidents or near misses to HSE Manager.
  • Ensure safe, cleanliness, and hygiene practices and conditions are maintained at all times.
  • Attend meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of chemical production processes (physical and chemical properties of raw materials and products).
  • Able to understand the equipment and production processes.
  • Flexibility to work with and provide support for a number of people and departments.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organization, and with external entities.
  • Time management skills to keep ahead of administrative tasks in various areas.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A collaborative individual who excels in a team environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to develop relationships across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
Experience/Education:
  • 5 - 10 years #39; experience in a related role and industry.
  • Background, or relevant industry experience, in chemical or mechanical engineering (preferably), to enable efficient interactions with laboratory and production team.
  • Relevant accredited training in accordance with the company competency standards for the position as well as project-specific training accreditations including First Aid, CPRamp; H2S Certified.
  • TDG and WHIMIS certification is an asset.
Working Conditions:
  • Overtime and being on call is required.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs.
  • Ability to work in varied environments and conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a mask fit test.
