Job Description

This position will entail the elder abuse prevention worker to facilitate upstream approaches to prevent and mitigate elder abuse situations.Roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist seniors accessing supports and resources
  • Promote an increased community awareness of elder abuse
  • Help facilitate elder abuse awareness events and presentations
  • Engage in caring and respectful conversations with seniors
  • Be alert for risk factors and signs of abuse and neglect during encounters with seniors
  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality when discussing issues of abuse and neglect
  • Refer elder abuse cases to the case manager.
Qualifications:
  • A post-secondary degree in Human Services or equivalent education and experience
  • Must have a thorough understanding of seniors concerns particularly focused on Elder Abuse.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge on resources and supports available to seniors
  • Two years related work experience is preferred
