As our team grows we are excited to recruit for a Payroll Supervisor.As the Payroll Supervisor, you will responsible for all payroll processes and systems to ensure efficient and accurate delivery of the organization’s payroll. Want to be a part of this exciting timeAs the Payroll Supervisor, you will:

  • Ensure the payroll system is functioning properly, which includes resolving system issues, managing system upgrades, maintaining data integrity standards, and managing the vendor relationship.
  • Manage payroll processes and conducts regular reviews to recommend improvements to ensure organization alignment.
  • Establish controls to maintain compliance with employment legislation and regulatory guidelines.
  • Remain current with regulatory changes and the impact on payroll processes, preparing the organization for any changes.
  • Conduct payroll data quality audits and investigates discrepancies with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Complete the reconciliation process, both for each pay period and year-end.
  • Provide feedback and coaching and conducts performance reviews and additional people management activities.
  • Increase technology usage by improving processes and providing training and development opportunities for others. Recognizes gaps in current technology resources and identifies solutions.
  • Oversee procedures and processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll.
  • Facilitate audits and works to implement any audit feedback received.
  • Reconcile, investigate, and resolve annual payroll register earnings, deductions, and allowances to general ledger accounts.
  • Assist other departments by providing required information for grant programs, employee pay history, vacation and occasional leave accrual balances, payroll reports, G/L coding and costing.
  • Prepare and processes year-end reporting including T-4/ T4As for the CRA and other external stakeholders. Prepares summaries, accounting balances, government information forms and internal reports.
  • Prepare and participates in annual payroll for audit and implements recommendations as required.
  • Participate in annual salary budget and bargaining costing through research, analytics, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintains communication documents/manuals for leadership/employees to access relevant payroll processes and responsibilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook), payroll software (Dayforce HCM).
  • Minimum 5 years’ payroll experience including 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) is a requirement.
  • Requires a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Public Sector experience within a unionized environment is preferred.
