This position coordinates and maintains OGE communication strategy as it pertains to international student recruitment; which includes an active and appropriate social media presence, website content support and promotional material production while working with various internal and external stakeholders, as well as international contacts. The Communications Specialist is aware of the Mission and Values of North Island College, incorporating and practicing the values in everything they do.Position Competencies

Duties & Responsibilities1. Update and maintain the OGE website for relevancy and accuracy; liaise with other college areas as necessary.2. Administer and maintain the electronic filing of marketing material, agent information and the agent database.3. As directed by the Manager, IEAR, administer contracts with NIC agents and maintain contract processes.4. Create documents such as student inquiry forms, agent checklists, etc. and edit marketing and communications materials.5. Develop and maintain division/department presence on various appropriate social media platforms (ex. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Vibe, LinkedIn, Weibo, QQ, Renren).6. Under direction of the Manager, IEAR and in conjunction with the NIC marketing team, produce print material such as international view book, program-specific or language-specific flyers, banners, and displays.7. Coordinate the design, printing, and distribution of print materials, liaising with service providers, including the translation of material for target markets.8. Coordinates delivery of marketing material worldwide for agents and OGE recruiting.9. Coordinate creation of new photo resources for use in promotional activities.10. Working with partners and relevant industry services, assess optimal advertising opportunities.11. Coordinate development of ads based on audience and target message, ensuring timely delivery of material. Monitor results of advertising campaigns, providing feedback and assessment on return of investment to Manager, IEAR.12. Research and select appropriate presentation platforms for use in various marketing opportunities.13. Create and maintain recruitment-related presentations ensuring accuracy, currency, and relevancy of content and provide presentations to NIC agents and representatives as needed.14. Research, write, and edit NIC institutional profiles for various print and online media.15. In conjunction with OGE staff, create a strategy for contacting and collecting information from international student alumni.16. Evaluates new and emerging social media platforms; recommends and develops appropriate strategies for print and social media, in order to promote social events, internal and external information sessions and special interest events.17. Develop and maintain a communication strategy for the international student alumni network.18. Participate in international student recruitment activities as required.19. Provide communications resource information for OGE staff.20. Perform other related duties similar in scope and complexity.Required Education & Experience1. Minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in Business, Marketing, Communications, International Studies or related field of study.2. Demonstrated coursework in communications, intercultural communication/interpersonal communication, international studies/business, and marketing.3. Minimum of three years’ experience related to business communications.Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities1. Exceptional communication, writing, and editing skills.2. Excellent team building and problem solving skills.3. Demonstrated technical knowledge and expertise in various software and specializeddatabase systems, web design and social media platforms.4. Demonstrated proficiency using software applications including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook at an intermediate level), Adobe Pro, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, CMS, and the internet.5. Strong project-management skills focused on liaising with various stakeholders and bringing a project together in a coordinated fashion.6. Proven customer service experience including understanding of and sensitivity to thecultural and learning needs of international students.7. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, use initiative, make decisions, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.8. Ability to work in a language other than English preferred.9.
