NEW BRIGHTON RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION JOB POSTINGSeasonal Contract Skating/Hockey Instructor OUR MISSION:“To enhance New Brighton’s sense of community by providing facilities, amenities, programs, and events.” OUR VALUES:Inclusion, Financial Accountability, Integrity, Responsibility, Enthusiasm ABOUT US: The New Brighton Residents Association (NBRA) is a not‐for‐profit organization established to professionally manage and operate several of New Brighton’s community features. Operated by the NBRA, the New Brighton Clubhouse is a year round recreational facility, consisting of a 6500 square foot building. Also on site are; 2 tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, basketball courts, a splash park, playground, and a hockey rink. The Bell Tower amenity, pond fountains, and community entrances are among a few of the other community features maintained by the NBRA.OUR TEAM: The New Brighton Residents Association has a unique environment with a dedicated, highly skilled workforce that has a proven foundation built on mutual respect. Above all, while working safely, employees must focus on continuously achieving quality standards in everything they do in order to meet and even exceed the NBRA’s customers’ expectations.SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The New Brighton Residents Association (NBRA) is seeking an individual for a seasonal contract to instruct skating and beginner hockey lessons for children at the New Brighton Clubhouse during the months of Januaryamp; February 2025.AUTHORITY: The Hockey/Skating instructor will report to the Recreation Leader of the NBRA. HOURS OF WORK: Tuesdaysamp; Thursdays 4pm-8pm (dependent on program registration). SPECIFIC DUTIES: Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Skating/Hockey Instructor is responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • Plan and execute weekly lesson plans for each age group (ages 3-4yrs, 5-7 yrsamp; 8-11 yrs)amp; program.
  • Provide an impactful experience for residents and non-residents participating in the registered programs.
  • Ability to deal with customer questions and concerns.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following policiesamp; procedures to manage risks associated with skating experiences.
  • Lead progressive lesson plans that introduce participants to physical literacy by building fundamental movement skills though skating programs. Class sizes consist of maximum 12 children.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting an inclusive environment.
  • Support the administrative systems required for skating programsamp; services including waivers, program schedules and class lists.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience with coaching hockey/ringette and teaching learning to skate programs with childrenamp; youth
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • Can-Skate/NCCP certification or equivalent is an asset
  • Respect in Sport Certificate
  • Self‐motivated, punctual and reliable
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Able to teach outdoors in all weather conditions
