Job Description

Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually as well as serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province. You can contribute to that success while building your career.Nature and ScopeReporting directly to the Associate Dean, Trades and Industrial, the Toolsamp; Equipment Officer focuses on trade centre organization, inventory control, and tool crib post program clean up. In collaboration with Program Coordinators and Instructors, ensure that all trade centres and tool cribs are maintained in state of readiness for program delivery and are not being used to store items un-related to their intended use. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT #39;s vision, mission, and mandate.General AccountabilityOn a casual, as needed basis, this position is accountable for establishing, effective inventory control processes, and ensuring our tools and equipment are in a state of readiness consistent with SIIT standards and processes. The role provides shop, equipment and tool crib functions in support of T amp;I program delivery in urban and rural locations. There is a requirement to be thorough, well organized, and conscientious to ensure high quality work. This position provides additional support as required and includes the following broad range of accountabilities:Specific AccountabilitiesInventory Controlamp; Tool Crib Organization

  • Provide organizational and inventory management at all trade centre locations and tool cribs, including minor maintenance, identifying repairs and improvements as required and/or requested
  • Ensure inventory needed for various Trades and Industrial programs are maintained for both tool cribs and trades centres as required to support the program plan
  • In collaboration with Program Coordinators and Instructors, ensure that all trade centres and tool cribs are maintained in state of readiness for program delivery and are not being used to store items un-related to their intended use
  • Perform cleaning services in tool cribs or worksites as required, which may include sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, or mopping, disposal
  • Prep equipment/inventory for transportation as required following proper safety procedures
  • Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Experience:Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent GED)
  • Construction experience or similar experience operating a variety of tools and equipment
  • Experience related to distribution and warehousing operations, or transportation logistics, including fork-lift operation
  • Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT #39;s Alcohol and Substances policy.Incumbent must have a valid driver #39;s license and reliable transportation as travel is required.Required Competencies: Effective Communication, Flexibleamp; Adaptable, Relationship Building, Results Oriented, Client Focus, Attention to Detail, Teamwork, Focus on Safety.
