  • JOB TEXT:Full time term replacement position for French Program Specialist. This position services Labrador (FOS 1) and Western (FOS 2) and the location of this position is to be determined. Duties to commence until June 23, 2023.The successful applicant will be responsible for providing leadership to schools and teachers on all aspects of the French curriculum. The incumbent will work as part of the Districts Program Team to further the aims and objectives of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District and to support improved educational opportunities through student programming and curriculum support. A Program Specialist for French provides leadership in support of French Language (Core French and French Immersion instruction). This individual works directly with French teachers. This individual will support learning communities and build capacity for excellence in French instruction and responsive teaching. This individual will also demonstrate a commitment to continual professional learning with an emphasis on current pedagogy. To provide leadership in teaching and learning, this individual will work with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development specialists, other school district specialists and school administrators.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • An in-depth knowledge of French pedagogy
    • An understanding of child development and knowledge of the diverse learning needs of students
    • Practical knowledge of instructional mentoring and of change leadership
    • Experience collecting, analyzing and using data to inform instruction
    • An extensive understanding of practices that support french language development (e.g., assessment, responsive teaching, and interventions)
    • Proficiency with the effective use of technology to support professional learning
    • Strong leadership skills in evidence-based, professional learning models
    • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • This position will require the use of a personal vehicle and the successful candidate to travel regionally and provincially
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • A Master’s Degree in Education, or other acceptable specialization relevant to the duties of this position
    • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience in the K-12 school system
