Job Description

About usWe are looking for a Financial Controller for our client situated in the County of Grande Prairie No. 1, AB. The job is fast-paced and collaborative within a team environment of over 75 employees.We are seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for performing complex accounting functions and analyzing business data. This position requires a commitment to producing accurate and timely financial reporting. We seek an experienced professional with an in-depth understanding of the financial reporting process, payroll and managing a small administrative team.Responsibilities:

  • Monitor bank and investment accounts.
  • Perform various account reconciliations.
  • Ensure that the companys financial records are current, accurate and complete.
  • Communicate financial issues to management.
  • Report about the companys finances.
  • Prepare estimates of income and expenses for the upcoming period.
  • Prepare financial statements, tax information and other documents required by regulators.
  • Review financial reports prepared by outside firms.
  • Develop strategies to maximize income while minimizing expenses.
  • Analytics on revenues, expenses, and financial performance of cost centres within the company.
  • Prepare reports that predict the financial performance of a company over time.
  • Manage project accounting and project profitability reporting.
  • Must be fluent with the full cycle accounting process.
  • Ensure all revenues, operational and capital expenses and reserves are accurately recorded and are consistent with corporate policies, industry guidelines and GAAP.
  • Payroll processing
  • Reconcile monthly company transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Managing a small administrative team
Review of:
  • general journal entries for appropriateness,
  • overall review of payables
  • administrative processes within the team and it’s effectiveness
  • Maintain, review, and complete and/or delegate - all general ledger reconciliations and financial report analysis, investigating and resolving account discrepancies, forecasting processes, review bank reconciliations, supporting the oversight and review of accounts payable and accounts receivable
Skills & Education- CPA designation (an asset)- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a senior accounting or financial management and providing full cycle accounting- 5 years of experience with managing staff or a team- Good understanding of accounting systems- High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word- Proficiency in QuickBooksEducation:
  • Bachelors Degree (preferred)
