The region boasts unlimited year-round outdoor recreation including skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, golfing, boating, hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, mountaineering, white-water rafting and snowmobiling. The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) serves over 60,000 permanent residents and approximately 25,000 to 30,000 seasonal residents. The region is diverse, home to several unincorporated communities, eight municipalities and four First Nations communities.Under the supervision of the Deputy Corporate Officer, the Community Services Coordinator provides technical and administrative assistance to various departments and stakeholders regarding responsibilities related to grant requirements. The position assists with the administration of the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) grant programs, including financial reconciliation, report writing, policies, procedures, and guidelines. The position plays a key role in supporting the delivery of community services and programs. This position is located in the Cranbrook, B.C. office.QUALIFICATIONSExperience, Education, Training and Occupational Certifications:

  • Diploma or certificate in community development, public administration, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Two years’ experience working in grant program management or local government administration.
  • Class 5 BC Drivers Licence.
KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Able to complete assignments with attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Computer literate with experience in grant management systems, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of grant application and awarding process
  • Knowledge of agreement drafting.
  • Engage with fellow employees, the public and outside agencies in a courteous manner.
  • Draft emails, correspondence, letters, reports, and agreements
  • Organize work schedule to meet deadlines and priorities.
  • Customer service skills: active listening, time management and prioritization.
  • Interpersonal skills: communication, teamwork, and empathy.
  • Ability to give and receive different types of information effectively and professionally.
  • Presentation skills.
The RDEK offers a great work environment and an attractive total compensation package, which includes a competitive salary, excellent benefits and learning opportunities. The RDEK also offers permanent employees a modified work week and up to 16 days’ vacation in the first year.
