Job Description

LEVELED IT TECHNICIAN IIGovernance and AdministrationThe Leveled IT Technician is a vital member of the IT support team responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users in a prompt and efficient manner. This position operates at various levels, with the specific duties and responsibilities varying based on the technician #39;s expertise and experience. The Leveled IT Technician assists in resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues, ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems and technology within the organization.Duties:The duties and responsibilities of this position are categorized into the following four main functions:

  1. Advanced Technical Support:
  • Handle more complex IT issues escalated from Level 1 support.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity problems, system crashes, and hardware failures.
  1. System Administration:
  • Assist with maintaining and managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Monitor system performance and take proactive measures to ensure optimal efficiency.
  1. IT Projects and Upgrades:
  • Participate in IT projects, such as software rollouts, hardware upgrades, or network expansions.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff and departments to implement technology solutions.
  1. General IT Responsibilities:
  • Resolve end-user IT issues, such as password reset, software questions, PChardware problems, Internet connectivity, etc.;
  • Connect with different departments to identify IT improvement opportunities
  • Manage and maintain work cellphone needs of the organization
  • Level 2 Support with contracted IT Supplier (OT Group)
  • Assist IT Support with keeping CLFN email contact list, extension list, cell phone list, distribution lists and keeping the global address book up to date.
  • Provide one-on-one end-user support and problem resolution via telephone, e-mail and other vehicles of communication.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, isolate, diagnose to identify defective equipment and resolve network issues.
  • Administer desktop computers, laptops, printers, switches, smartboards, netbooks, audio visual equipment, smartphones, interactive displays, software deployment, upgrades, security updates and patches.
  • Assist IT Support with software development, data backup, and disaster recovery system management
  • Remove and destroy storage media such as hard drives, CD’s, DVDs, USB’s and external drives.
  • Assist IT Support with cheque requisitions, and other administrative tasks.
  • Recognize and escalate deeper and more complex issues to Tier 2 support technicians;
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining all network printer systems wide at all buildings including calling service technicians and ordering ink.
  • Assist PC and network technicians by troubleshooting software, hardware, and network issues;
  • Where necessary, assist network technicians in installing network interface cards, hubs, switches, network cabling;
  • Assist IT Support with tracking and submitting asset list information for laptops, desktops, servers, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS: Basic Requirements: (APPLICANTS MUST SHOW NECESSARY PROOF WITH APPLICATION OR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SCREENED OUT)Educationamp; Experience:
  • College diploma in Computer Sciences preferred
  • Excellent written, oral and telephone communication skills;
  • 2-3 years work experience in IT support;

  • Knowledge of computer systems, hardware, software, and networks.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:This is a Term Full-Time position for one year beginning immediately.
