Job Description

MatrixHR is currently recruiting Apprentice Sheet Metal workers for an exciting client of ours located in Halifax NS. Reporting to the Installation Manager, the Apprentice Installers will work in collaboration with the Halifax installation team:All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Government Security clearance.Installing HVAC Ducting and Equipment:

  • Assess job site and set up equipment prior to commencing work;
  • Follow safety protocol and comply with safety and occupational standards;
  • Read and interpret installation diagrams;
  • Install ductingamp; equipment as per diagrams and direction from the Supervisor;
  • Carry out HVAC installation, which includes ducting, fasteners on hangers and ducts, and insulation;
  • Anchor and hook-up HVAC machinery such as air handling units, fans, chillers, ventilation equipment, etc;
  • Assist in verifying that the HVAC installation is functioning.
Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced environment. Noisy.
  • Physically demanding. Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Attention to detail; good eye-hand coordination.
  • Confined or restricted areas.
Certifications:
  • Confined Space.
  • Fall Protection.
  • WHMIS.
Qualifications:
  • 1 year + experience in sheet metal installation.
  • Completed pre-apprenticeship course or equivalent experience.
  • Able to interpret drawings.
  • Able to measure accurately (imperial and metric).
  • Good work quality and ability to work steadily to meet project timelines.
  • Good physical dexterity to work in tight or awkward locations.
