QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 10 education (Manitoba Standards)
  • Other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License with Air Brake Authorization
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
  • Ability to display independent judgment
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
  • Direct care workers are required to either be vaccinated for Covid-19 or to participate in on-going regular Covid-19 testing pursuant to Orders made under The Public Health Act C.C.S.M. c.P210. POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Manager, Environmental Services or the Supervisor, Environmental Services, the Driver is responsible for performing the following activities according to related policies and procedures and any government regulations and legislation: assists in all aspects of environmental services in accordance with established standards, procedures, and infection control guidelines; prioritizes and completes all duties, inspections, and inventory responsibilities within established timeframes and schedules; performs all duties in a manner that enhances client and workplace safety.RESPONSIBILITIES:Overview:
  • Transports linen and other items to off-site facilities served by the Regional laundry.
  • Loads and unloads truck.
  • Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance checks on trucks by checking and replenishing all fluid levels (i.e. fuel, water, oil, etc.).
  • Maintains maintenance logs for vehicles.
  • Maintains personal driver record of duty status and/or a driver’s logbook.
  • Advises the Manager, Environmental Services or the Supervisor, Environmental Services of all required repairs to the truck or equipment and arrange for the necessary repairs to be done by the appropriate service department.
  • Assists in the training and/or orientation of Environmental Services staff and students.
  • Assumes responsibility for following departmental procedures to ensure consistency and quality of service is maintained throughout the Environmental Services Departments.
  • Collects and sorts soiled linens.
  • Weighs and records soiled linen to be processed.
  • Operates laundry equipment when necessary.
  • Distributes laundry and linen as appropriate.
  • Ensures all equipment is clean and operating efficiently.
  • Cleans assigned areas in accordance with current established cleaning schedules and infection control guidelines.
  • Prioritizes and completes extra cleaning duties within established timeframes and in accordance with current cleaning schedule.
  • Conducts daily tours of areas of responsibility prior to end of shift, inspecting each area for cleanliness.
  • Restocks supplies in all areas, as required.
  • Assists with inventory procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
