Parkland Crisis Centre & Womens ShelterDauphin, Manitobais currently accepting resumes for a:FAMILY VIOLENCE COUNSELLORThis is a Full Time, Evening Position (3 p.m. – 11 p.m.)The Shelter Counsellor will focus on providing trauma informed, client centered counselling, using a strength-based/harm reduction model, to women and their children, and men, experiencing Family Violence, Domestic Abuse and Gender-based Violence.Job Summary: Responsible to the Executive Director and supervised by the Administrative Assistant, The Family Violence Counsellor is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating programs designed to provide holistic services for individuals experiencing family violence, domestic abuse and gender-based violence. The counsellor will provide individual and group counselling to residential and non-residential clients, maintain a current and broad network of community-based and public sector services and stays current with best and emerging practices in the field. The counsellor provides immediate crisis stabilization services, as well as longer term support to assist clients to achieve stable housing, economic stability, positive community connections and healthy relationships.Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services such as a Bachelor of Social Work degree, Applied Counselling Certificate and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Exceptional inter-personal communication & written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making and analytical skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure, be reliable, able to work alone or in team environment
  • Must have excellent physical and emotion health
  • Flexible to work and meet the needs of a 24-hour facility
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse & Adult Abuse Registry Checks
  • Emergency First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificates
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to own vehicle an asset
