This business area also collects royalties, taxes and fees levied on mineral, oil and gas production and works with other levels of government, collecting various debts owed to government.The Consumer Taxation Audit Branch (CTAB) carries out audit and other compliance activities for the province #39;s consumption tax systems. These activities generate incremental revenues and promote future voluntary compliance to support programs for education, health care, social services and other public service needs of British Columbians.The Senior Tax Auditor, Workload, analyses diverse taxpayer information databases from both a global and specific perspective, performs risk assessment of the taxpayer base to identify non-compliance and determines taxpayers to be selected for audit in support of the branch #39;s audit plan to maximize tax revenues for the Province. The position is also responsible for the planning and conducting of tax audits, in accordance with current legislation and branch standards, on taxpayers with a focus on complex operations and/ or large businesses operating in British Columbia.Locations of audits may be within or outside the province. This position is responsible for reporting on audit findings and establishing evidence supporting offences under several consumption tax statutes administered by the branch to optimize tax revenue to the province.Job Requirements:

  • Professional accounting designation CPA - CA, CGA, CMA, issued by a Canadian Accounting Association. Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
  • Minimum of 3 years audit and/or accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years audit experience in a consumption taxes environment.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5, BC driver #39;s license or equivalent, with no L restrictions.
