Job Description

Term of Appt: Regular, Full Time (30 hours per week)Start date: April 24, 2023Reporting to: Dean of Trades & ApprenticeshipsSalary:$68,341.00 - $77,536.00 annual starting wage, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement (annual increments up to a maximum salary of $99,968.00). Vacation entitlement annually is 240 hours (pro-rated from hire date for current year), to be utilized for summer months (July and August), and paid time off between December 25 - January 1st each year. We offer an extremely competitive extended health and dental benefits plan. Enrolment in the College Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time staff.Description:Northern Lights College is seeking a full-time instructor for the Professional Cook Training Program to deliver instruction in all aspects of theoretical and practical knowledge as outlined by the Skilled Trades BC to both our adult and Dual Credit students.The Professional Cook program follows the prescribed course curriculum for all Cook levels as required. Students will perform all phases of kitchen activities including the preparation and presentation of vegetables, soups, sauces, meat, fish, and poultry; cold kitchen items; desserts, baking, pastry, basic menu planning/costing as well as knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food storage.If you are a dynamic individual who has a passion for teaching and sharing experiences, a learner centered mindset who wants personal growth and the opportunity to excel within a great environment, then we invite you to submit your application for consideration.Qualifications:Required:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal certification in Cook, with a minimum of five years of practical experience.
  • Current Food Safe Level 2 certificate.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite (word, outlook, excel).
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Preferred:
  • Supervisory experience in the ; and
  • A credential in adult education, such as the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program.
  • Skilled Trades BC assessor qualification.
