SUMMARYReporting to the Director of Information Technology ( quot;IT quot;), the incumbent provides architecture, design and operational maintenance services for the City #39;s server, storage and cloud computing requirements. Drawing on in-depth knowledge and understanding of key infrastructure technologies and tools, the incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, administering, installing and monitoring complex server-based systems, including hardware and software components. He or she adopts aquot;security first quot; mentality, ensuring that information, infrastructure and systems are designed and operated with cybersecurity as a primary consideration. He or she carries out and supervises the acquisition of hardware and software, coordinates the implementation of new technologies and upgrades, and resolves technical system problems. The role also involves carrying out all backup and recovery activities, documenting procedures, and developing, maintaining and testing the disaster recovery plan.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Design the overall architecture and provide ongoing support for the City #39;s on-premises server infrastructure and cloud computing• Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the City #39;s overall business strategy and goals• Participate in the implementation and execution of projects and lead internal initiatives and projects related to core infrastructure services when necessary• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, and recommend their adoption within the enterprise architecture• Manage, deploy, configure and maintain servers in virtualized and traditional environments.• Maintain and support the City #39;s directory services infrastructure, including group architecture, account maintenance and authentication for network access• Evaluate systems and alternative solutions• Develop functional specifications, standards and requirements for the purchase and design of hardware and software to ensure optimal system and end-user performance, recommend changes and additional services, and identify budgetary needs• Manage the IT infrastructure budget and finances, including costing, forecasting and expense justification• Provide mentoring and training to the junior technical support team• Administer and optimize infrastructure backup and storage systems• Contribute to the administration and optimization of VMware and server hardware• Ensure and supervise maintenance of the various systems and applications• Monitor enterprise applications, network, storage and other equipment usage and capacity• Recommend and implement infrastructure changes to support growth• Assist in the planning, support and administration of disaster recovery and business continuity planning• Create and maintain hardware, software and firmware maintenance schedules for all network, server and storage hardwareMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation• Post-secondary diploma in computer science, computer technology, data networking or equivalent post-secondary program and relevant IT experience (other combinations of training and experience deemed equivalent may be considered)Experience• Over eight years #39; professional experience, including at least five years #39; previous experience as an IT infrastructure analyst or in a similar roleSkills and knowledge• Advanced skills in system administration and specific technological tools• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration, patch management and optimization, including Active Directory and Group Policy design and implementation• Advanced knowledge of modern virtualization technologies (VMWare)• Advanced knowledge of centralized storage technologies (SANs) and other storage sharing technologies such as NFS• Experience of hardware infrastructure design and implementation methodologies• Advanced knowledge of Linux servers, print servers, Exchange, SharePoint and IIS• Experience in backup management and server recovery• Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)• Microsoft 365 administration• Application and patch delivery and management system, such as Microsoft SCCM• Familiarity with cloud-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) such as Microsoft M365• Proven ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines• Judgment and problem-solving skills (technical and operational)• Ability to assess and prioritize the needs of various municipal departments• Effective oral and written communication skills needed to effectively present and communicate ideas, document solutions and develop strategies and plans• Ability to work with minimal supervision• Positive attitude with respect to the City #39;s interests and those of the community at large• Physical ability to do the work assigned to him or her• Punctuality and regular attendance• Good past record of job performance• Respect for the City of Dieppe #39;s confidentiality rules and organizational valuesWORK SCHEDULE• Thirty-five (35) hours a week• Availability to work evenings and weekends on occasion, depending on operational needsSALARY• Based on the current salary scale• The incumbent also receives vacation, benefits (paid by the employer) and a pension plan (employer/employee contribution).CLOSING DATE The closing date to submit your application is November 1 at 23 h 59.
