Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:The responsibility of the Bar Supervisor is to manage their bars efficiently by handling daily operations, managing resources and employees, and creating a safe, fun environment for staff and patrons.ACCOUNTABILITIES:The Digby Pines Golf and Spa Resort is actively recruiting for a committed proactive Bar Supervisor with lots of energy who enjoys working in an exciting fast paced environment. As Bar Supervisor you will promote and grow the business of potentially 5 bar sites in the summer, assist with recruiting and training staff, ensuring patrons are receiving excellent drinks, food, and service. You will also manage inventory and resources, plan promotional events, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction. We expect someone to be able to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations.To excel as a Bar Supervisor, you should be observant and have the ability to think critically and efficiently. You should be a skilled communicator with excellent problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • HotelRestaurant Management Certificate an asset.
  • Accomplished mixologist with 5 years bartending experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a hotel or restaurantcatering preferred.
  • Nova Scotia Serve Right, knowledge of Nova Scotia liquor laws required.
  • A detailed knowledge of liquor, beer, wine, mixed drinks and mocktails.
TOOLS & EXPERIENCE:Wine Service, keg beer systems, POS systems, credit/debit machine, glasses and blender, glass washer and CO2 soda systems.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Long hours will be required at times (Days, Evenings, Weekends)
  • Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to transport beer kegs and cases of liquor, beer, wine, etc.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guest.
ESSENTIALS:
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner and provide attentive service, focusing on guests’ needs.
  • Willingness to work during peak hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.
  • Comply at all times with Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Have full knowledge of entire menu, as well as daily specials, desserts, etc.
  • Creation of daily drink specials and seasonal themed drinks.
  • Monitor guests for intoxication and report such findings to Manager immediately.
  • Maintain inventory through approved controls and purchasing.
  • Create employee schedules.
  • Ensure bars are well stocked and clean.
  • Tracks customer behaviour and sales, latest trends in bar marketplace.
  • Works with catering department for special event bars.
  • Maintains budget and monitors costs.
  • Maintains drink recipe documentation.
