Job Description

Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.The successful candidate will join the Air Canada Corporate Audit & Advisory ("CAA") group to participate in the performance of risk-based assurance reviews and internal control advisory activities. The candidate will participate in the planning, execution and reporting of audit work (across different lines of business/functions) in order to provide independent and objective assurance to Management and the Audit Committee on the Companys governance, risk management, compliance and control processes.Key Functions & Accountabilities: (Responsibilities, Activities, Authority levels, etc)

  • Reporting to the Senior Business Auditor, the position requires the individual to support the following activities of CAAs Business Risk & Assurance practice:
  • Participate in the planning and performance of Company-wide assurance engagements evaluating the design and effectiveness of business processes/risk management strategies across the enterprise to ensure proper internal controls are in place that support the achievement of business objectives
  • Participate in the initial identification of financial, operational, compliance and other risks relevant to the business processes, products/services and systems under review
  • Integrate data analytics into audit scoping and testing approaches to enhance the overall quality and relevance of engagements, including identifying key risk indicators to perform continuous monitoring
  • Identify and document financial, operational and non-compliance gaps/risk exposures and opportunities in process design and effectiveness based on testing performed
  • Identify and evaluate the effectiveness of controls to prevent or detect fraud
  • Identify and document practical and value-added recommendations, based on root cause analysis and best practices
  • Draft well-articulated and meaningful audit reports to communicate audit findings and recommendations to internal clients
  • Perform follow-ups with internal clients on the implementation of recommended changes
  • Provide CAAs Senior Business Auditor regular updates on status of work assigned, opportunities or issues identified and other relevant project management matters
  • Participate in the performance of advisory services, as requested, to support key initiatives across the organization
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively within the CAA group and with other business units
  • Maintain and enhance the level of knowledge of Air Canada, the aviation industry and related business environment
  • Support other CAA service lines, as required
Qualifications
  • University degree in Business or related discipline
  • Completed or in final stages of completion of a professional accounting or auditing or risk management designation (e.g. CPA, CIA, CRMP)
  • 3 + years of risk management, internal or external audit experience
  • Strong business acumen with ability to adapt to new and complex situations
  • Understanding of Risk Management concepts and standards including COSO an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven analytical, planning and organizational skills, with an eye for detail
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise reports
  • Airline experience and knowledge of airline processes would be a distinct advantage
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Visio)
  • Experience with data analytic/visualization tools (ex: PowerBI, Power Query) an asset
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential part of the position
  • Valid passport with ability to travel, domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
