Job Description

Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.Support the Manager of Catering Scheduling with the preparation of the world-wide catering schedule for all Air Canada, Rouge and Air Canada Express flights at regular intervals, which includes the optimization of cost savings and operational efficiencies, as well as critical support for the Director, Catering Product for special projects.Key Function& Accountabilities:Activities and key accountabilities include:

  • Producing the catering provisioning report (TP 6) for AC Mainline, Rouge and Express flights. Catering reports are produced using the Sabre AirVision system which is the foundation for caterer provisioning and invoicing.
  • Developing and running other reports that are a by-product of each schedule produced at regular intervals. Such reports include: interface files for supply chain forecasting, data reports to feed internal meal ordering systems and weight and balance reports for aircraft safety;
  • Delivering precise communication each week as to the Corporate Schedule and any changes of new routes or drastic departure changes throughout the catering branch, along with updating and communicating Aircraft fleet Galley/Seating information and fins in/out of service.
  • Analyzing new aircraft/galley combinations due to new routes/aircraft/galley configuration and assuring new codes are established in the Catering system along with approved pricing.
  • Leading or supporting various Catering Projects which include Business Continuity Planning as needed.
  • Assist in identifying, scheduling and maintaining cost optimization analysis (double cater scheduling), and food waste minimization opportunities.
  • Monitor and maintain reports for special projects at regular intervals.
  • Training and implementation of existing and new Catering Service suppliers to understand the reports produced in the Sabre system.
  • Answer queries from internal colleagues and external caterers/suppliers.
  • Attend group meetings and conference calls (as required).
  • Support and learn various automation enhancements as needed.
  • Perform kitchen audits, support product or station startups as needed and as schedule allows.
Qualifications
  • A solid analytical background is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel with ability to produce summarized reports.
  • Understanding of accounting principles or post-secondary education related to the key functions and accountabilities of the role, considered an asset.
  • Strong inter-personal relationships, proven organization, communication and administrative skills. Overall strong team player.
  • Results driven, self-starter, with a strong desire to advance learning in role.
  • Problem/issue resolution capability.
  • Requires knowledge of financial processes and financial analysis techniques.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, strong planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, self-directed, team-based environment.
  • Ability to deal and communicate effectively with internal/external customers.
  • Training in airline industry or catering or related scheduling field considered an asset.
  • English proficiency in both oral and written is essential, French an asset.
