Job Description

Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services - Loyalty and Aeroplan, the incumbent will be responsible to support the financial services related to eCommerce, the new Marketing Effectiveness project, and Aeroplan Partnerships. This includes support with financial management, financial planning, financial reporting, policy guidance and support.This incumbent will be working closely with the Digital Channels, IT and Partnership teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Build effective relationships with the Aeroplan, Loyalty Management teams in order to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Ensure effective financial management, processes/systems and controls are developed, implemented, and maintained in accordance with policies and requirements (month-end accruals/explanations, Interco transactions, outlooks, budgets, balance sheet reconciliations, AFCs and contracts).
  • Maintain and develop cost tracking mechanisms for the AC Elite program, Digital Channel and IT Application and Development teams including FTE and Contractor trackers, license costs, etc. gaining deep understanding of the work of each team and their stakeholders, to lead the insourcing business cases, provide monthly tracking and accruals and forecasts.
  • Work with the eCommerce team to develop KPIs for the Marketing Effectiveness project with advisory and analysis to aid the strategic business decisions to meet/exceed financial goals, improve expense and budget management.
  • Consolidate the different expenses under the Digital Test Lab, preparing spend report for the Financial Institutions and month-end accruals/explanations and intercompany invoicing.
  • Lead the cobrand card profitability analysis on a quarterly basis for both the Canadian and US cobrand cards.
  • Support the Loyalty Management teams with developing and testing business cases (AFCs) and post-audit reconciliations for the eStore, OAL Frequent Flyer Programs and Travel Partnerships.
  • Work with the Loyalty team and Strategic Procurement team to support and deliver on the cost transformation initiatives set forth by the Air Canada executives.
  • Support financial evaluations and participate in major contract renewals with a focus on obtaining all possible cost savings - look for savings beyond the RFP; challenge the accepted norm that any saving is satisfactory.
  • Provide guidance and training to the Loyalty business unit on Finance procedures, policies, financial systems.
  • Provide functional direction and guidance to the Financial Services Analysts - Loyalty and Aeroplan, contributing to their development and performance.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is required
  • Accounting and/or business designation ( CPA, MBA, CFA) is required
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to analyze and report back on complex data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with others
  • Self-started, energetic with strong sense of initiative and creativity
  • Ability to learn financial systems quickly
  • Demonstrated organization skills and ability to work under pressure and reach to changing timelines
  • Experience working with financial software/applications such as Microsoft Suite/Peoplesoft/SAP/Tableau
