Your Opportunity:Drumheller Health Centre, Continuing Care Unit, is an 88 bed unit located in a rural setting. As a Health Care Aide, you are a member of our nursing care team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct client centered care. This position is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly resident, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementias. Within the long term care interdisciplinary team, the HCA is responsible for providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living within the resident #39;s care plan. Residents are assisted to maximize their optimum level of independence. You will provide emotional support by being a good listener, being supportive, being friendly and sincere, and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner. You will perform health care duties within your scope of practice as outlined on the resident #39;s care plan. Drumheller is located 135 km from Calgary and 160 km from Red Deer, with a population of 8,029 and is located in the valley of the Alberta Badlands. Drumheller residents benefit from a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities within the town, such as the Aquaplex for swimming, the Memorial Arena for skating and the Badlands Community Facility for fitness and library resources.
