The Ministry designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population.RoleAre you mechanically inclined with 2 years’ experience and trained looking after routine building operations We are looking for someone to work in one of our Drumheller/Hanna locations to ensure that the building is safe and comfortable for staff and patrons.   • Perform routine and preventative maintenance of building components, both interior and exterior and monitor building mechanical and electrical systems to ensure a safe and comfortable building environment is maintained
  • Assist trades with being able to do their job and monitor contractors
  • Maintain preventative maintenance programs
  • Direct communications with building clients
  • Monitor service delivery and purchasing compliance
  • Confirm receipt of goods and completion of contracted services; monitor contract terms to ensure performance and completion of work
  • Complete administrative duties; adhere to current AI Purchasing Practices, record information in Facility Management System (FMS) and Work Order Tracking System (WORTS)
The successful candidates will be persons who enjoy working with the public in a strong customer service capacity, be reliable, be independent, and have sound judgement. This role will require excellent communication skills, a mechanical aptitude, and a strong sense of teamwork to work with others.QualificationsRequirements:
  • Candidates must have a Building Operator A Certificate or a preferred 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate
  • High school with 2 years of related building operations experience or mechanical trade equivalencies will be considered
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Additional Assets to be successful in this role:
  • Excellent knowledge of building operations and all associated mechanical/electrical functions
  • Basic skills for reading blueprints and able to guide contractors to appropriate work locations
  • Experience using tools associated with repair and maintenance of buildings and mechanical systems
  • General knowledge of fire alarm and fire sprinkler operations
  • Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office, Excel/Outlook
  • Good knowledge of AHU, RTU, and Pneumatic systems
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines, fire code, and building codes
