Job Description

Your Opportunity:As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the experienced peri-operative Operating Room Technician (ORT) will be responsible for providing peri-operative patient care in accordance with CLPNA practice standards. The incumbent will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role as an integral part of the surgical team. The Operating Room Technician - Licensed Practical Nurse, is responsible for providing safe care throughout the patients stay in the surgical suite. The Nurse promotes the professional role and evaluates their professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The ORT is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care during the peri-operative patient experience in accordance with hospital policies and standards. The incumbent will work with patients during the peri-operative phase of care and must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills when performing scrubbing and circulating duties in the surgical environment. It is expected that the ORT is able to contribute to quality initiatives and promotes a professional work environment at all times. This is a busy and fast-paced environment. Drumheller is located 135 km from Calgary and 160 km from Red Deer, with a population of 8,029 and is located in the valley of the Alberta Badlands. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
