Your Opportunity:Make a significant impact on patient-focused health care as a Nutrition Food Service (NFS) Supervisor. NFS is a provincial program that is committed to providing nutritious, healthy, high quality meal service to patients, staff, visitors and the community. You will have the unique opportunity to lead teams within two facilities, the Drumheller Health Centre (0.7 FTE) and the Hanna Health Centre (0.3 FTE) NFS department. NFS Supervisors provide direction to front line workers and ensure patients and residents receive the meals required to promote good health. As a key member of the NFS team, you are responsible for leading and mentoring staff, managing budgets, promoting safe work environments, implementing Alberta Health Services and NFS initiatives, and contributing to the delivery of high quality meals. You will routinely interact with dietitians, other health care staff, patients, residents and their families. The Supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream and could lead to other opportunities within Food Services Management. The first thing you’ll notice about Drumheller, located in Central Alberta, is the spectacular scenery and rolling fields, which suddenly give way to the Canadian Badlands. The Red Deer River winds its way through the Drumheller Valley, attracting many with its myriad of recreational opportunities. Residents can enjoy an excellent variety of recreational facilities and amenities within the town, such as the Aquaplex for swimming, the Memorial Arena for skating, the Badlands Community Facility for fitness and library resources, and the famous Royal Tyrell Museum.Description:Reporting to the Manager, Patient Food Services the Supervisor has direct responsibility for maintaining operations at the site level, aligning AHS, Nutrition and Food Services, and site priorities with the delivery of Patient Food Services. Responsibilities and accountabilities include: Provision of frontline staff direction and supervision of patient and retail food service operations. Completion of human resources activities (including but not limited to the recruitment process, performance appraisals, investigations, performance management, application of the collective agreement, etc.). Manage food, supply and labour expenses to achieve financial targets. Ensure safe work practice and conditions. Participate in the development and implementation of menus that are customized to meet local customer profiles, cost factors, labour productivity targets and standards set by NFS. Promote quality improvement and staff engagement in operational problem solving. Key contact to site administration and patient care for matters relating to Patient Food Services. Site compliance to guidelines, standards and regulatory directives. Key competencies required for this role include: Ability to foster, build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, customer focused orientation and commitment to provide a quality service. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in staff. Demonstrated ability to implement change and handle competing priorities with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
