Job Description

Organizational & Position OverviewThe Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture (NSFA) represents the interests of Nova Scotia’s agricultural community. Today its members account for well over 90% of all agricultural production in Nova Scotia and brings together farm businesses representing all aspects of primary agriculture in the province. The NSFA tackles policy issues that impact the competitive and sustainable nature of the industry and takes an active role in supporting registered farms through delivery of programs and services. The NSFA supports environmental stewardship and the adoption of best practices with the ultimate goal of preserving and restoring our agricultural ecosystems for generations to come.The NSFA is currently seeking a Resource Coordinator to manage activities for the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) Living Lab Program. The Resource Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the knowledge and technology transfer plan for the Living Labs project. This work involves organizing field days, creating video content, delivering workshops, making presentations, writing articles and updating social media and website content.We are looking for an individual who is passionate about agriculture, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and environmental stewardship. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and enjoy interacting with the public.The NSFA prides itself in providing an enthusiastic work environment and is a tight-knit supportive group encouraging collaboration and sharing of ideas.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the knowledge and technology transfer strategy to ensure the learnings of the program are shared with various stakeholders
  • Identify, develop, and deliver tools and resources (e.g., fact sheets, presentations, and blog posts) to support the farm community in implementing environmental best management practices
  • Manage, oversee, and coordinate the development, and delivery of field days, workshops, and educational events for the farm community
  • Identify, develop, and deliver tools and resources to support other stakeholder groups (e.g., government, researchers, industry, general public) to allow them to understand the environmental best practices implemented by the industry
  • Liaise with members to understand their environment and climate change needs and to provide them with relevant information, tools, and resources
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to increase collaboration and coordination of initiatives
  • Promote the Living Lab project through various communication platforms (e.g., NSFA social media, News + Views, commodity newsletters)
  • Manage and coordinate communication platforms for the Living Lab project including websites, social media, newsletters, etc.
  • Manage project budgets and expenditures
  • Evaluate project to ensure deliverables are met
Qualifications
  • Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Biology or Geology
  • Knowledge of the agriculture industry and experience working with the industry providing outreach and extension
  • Experience in transferring technical information into practical and plain language resources
  • Experience with various communication and social media platforms
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A member or eligible for P.Ag. status with the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrology considered an asset
Compensation
  • Starting annual salary between $55,000 and $60,000
  • 3 weeks vacation
