Job Description

Our client, a Canadian multinational energy transportation company with a focus on the transportation, distribution, and generation of energy, has an immediate need for a Data Analytics Analyst. This is a contract position for one (1) year located in Edmonton, Alberta.Description:The Data Analytics Analyst responsible for the support of analytical services provided to the Projects leadership using a combination of technical expertise and business intelligence to provide critical analysis that informs decision making. This includes normalizing sources, resolving issues, documenting methodology and developing improvements to data management/visualizations that enable the analysis of complex information.Accountabilities:

  • Work with business teams to fully define questions and objectives to distill down to the technical requirements to satisfy them them.
  • Locate, normalize, and derive insight from information contained in multiple disparate systems.
  • Design/build system integrations, transforms, and subject model views to merge related data from multiple sources in meaningful ways.
  • Combine insights into easily digestible visuals and summarization suitable for communication to stakeholders at any technical level of expertise.
  • Develop improvements to data management/visualizations that enable the analysis of complex information.
  • Documenting methodology
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline (computer science/engineering, information management, other combination of skills/experience) is required.
  • 10+ years of experience providing data analytics
  • Demonstrated experience in using and visualizing data to derive insight and drive decision making
  • Expert experience utilizing Microsoft Excel (data extraction, advanced formulas, pivot tables, add-in, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and Oracle databases – not specific to Oracle ERP
  • Expert knowledge of DAX, Power BI to analyze data and the Power BI service
  • Exposure to relational and dimensional models
  • Exposure to low-code (Power Apps, OutSystems) and cloud integration tools (Workato, Power Automate) would be a benefit
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail orientated, organized, pro-active and acts with a sense of urgency
