For more information about Celanese and our products please visit www.celanese.comResponsibilities:To be a competent craftsman, through skill and knowledge, capable of producing with accuracy and precision various components and complete assemblies from raw material to finished article. Use of various power and hand tools in a safe a competent manner.Qualifications:Holder of a current Alberta Journeyman Machinists Certificate. Several years experience in an industrial environment (petrochemical) would be an asset.

  • Current Trades certificate, Machinist Red Seal preferred
  • Excellent verbal, listening and written skills, and basic computer skills
  • 5-10 Years Experience
  • Set up and operate with trade accuracy any of the machine tools in the plant including lathes, shapers, milling machine, Jig Borer, cylinder grinder, hand grinders, surface grinder and drill presses.
  • Perform in a skilled manner in the shop such bench operations as layout filing, reaming, lapping, dismantling, fitting and assembling of machine parts.
  • Accurately read and lay out projects from blueprints.
  • Properly and safely use heat treat furnaces and be familiar with the heat treatment of critical materials.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as inside/outside micrometers, verniers, gauges, dial indicators, surface gauges, depth mikes, thread gauges, callipers and Hole gauges.
  • Design and build jigs, work holders. Taper cutting on lathes, use of boring bars.
  • Proper grinding of drills. Sharpen cutters, drills, reamers, and other auxiliary tools required on machining operations.
  • Familiarity with HP Fittings and HP Tubing/single point treading of these, also with established method of rolling threads on HP Tubing.
  • Responsible for safety & housekeeping in the Machine Shop area. Other duties as assigned by Supervision.
