BURNCO’s Northern Alberta Aggregate Division is seeking an experienced Aggregate Lead Hand for its Edmonton area operations. You are someone who, after a number of years of aggregate plant operations experience, has a keen understanding and desire to mentor and train new and experienced co-workers on how to safely and effectively operate the plant’s heavy equipment as well as facilitate production. You have a patient but practical temperament, enjoying helping others at the plant succeed at their roles with on-the-job training and guidance. Collaborating with other Leads and the Production Foreman, you will also regularly inspect how procedures, training, and results at the various sites you will be responsible for are positively tracking in line with established plant goals. Ready for the challenge then apply today.What You Will Be DoingAssisting Production Foreman in the completion of the following tasks:
  • Ensuring a safe working environment, following all BURNCO safety policy, regulation and BURNCO Mission, Vision, Values
    • Managing the operation and maintenance of production plants
    • Overseeing the operation and maintenance of loaders, rock trucks and excavators
    • Supervising production staff – supervision includes direction and support
    • Reporting all matters that may require discipline (for union members) to the attention of the Foreman and in the absence of the Foreman, to the attention of the Operations Manager
    • Ensuring quality of all products
    • Motivating staff to obtain high levels of production
    • Organizing daily production paperwork and data entry o Training production staff
  • Assisting the Production Foreman with organizing daily production paperwork and data entry:
    • Working with invoices and PO’s in Oracle
    • Time and equipment entry
    • Production entry
  • Supervising (under the direction of the Operations Manager) a production plant during those times the foreman is unavailable
  • Operating a production plant when required.
Reality of the Job
  • A typical work week is 5 to 6 days per week (especially during the peak season that runs from May through October)
  • Long days are the norm during the peak season, up to 12 hours per day
  • Out of town work may be required on occasion and at times you may be required to be away from home at a project site, where LOA (Living Out Allowance) will be provided
RequirementsWhat We Would Like From You
  • 5+ years of aggregate production experience
  • Class 5 Drivers License and clean Drivers abstract
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • General specification/sieve analysis comprehension
  • Effective team player
  • Able to work effectively in a stressful environmen
  • Eligible to become a member in the Union of Operating Engineers.
