Job Description

Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Director, the Hand Hygiene Analyst is a key member of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Surveillance and Standards Team. The analyst position works to describe and investigate the distribution and causes of healthcare-associated infections and participates in developing strategies for preventing and controlling these infections. This individual supports data quality and data reporting of AHS hand hygiene compliance monitoring and other IPC surveillance initiatives, and participates in the development and implementation of IPC program initiatives across the province with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and preventing health-care associated infections.Description:As the Hand Hygiene analyst, you will use standard methods to clean, organize and prepare data from the hand hygiene and other surveillance databases for analysis using software programs and perform data quality checks using established procedures. You will prepare regular standard reports to monitor data quality errors and assist with education and quality initiatives, and prepare formal reports for presentation at the IPC provincial surveillance committee. You will provide support and manage communication between Alberta Health Services IPC staff and IPC Surveillance and Standards staff; and also collaborate with key stakeholders to support improvement of hand hygiene compliance across all healthcare settings in AHS. You will support ongoing development of hand hygiene and other surveillance initiatives, including the provincial hand hygiene platform, by assisting AHS IT with system upgrades and maintenance. Candidates should have expertise in database management as well as data analysis. Work experience and advanced training in a health-related field is an asset.Additional Required Qualifications:As Required.Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in statistical software (e.g. R) and Office products (Excel, Word, Skype for Business and Powerpoint) is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important especially the ability to communicate well with both those who have expertise in information technology as well as those who work in health-related fields. Must be able to work effectively in a virtual team environment.
