Job Description

Highlights of the jobWe are hiring a one (1) Full Time, Permanent Regulatory Reporting Analyst position in Edmonton, AB!The Analyst, Regulatory Reporting is accountable for maintaining all of Energy Services’ regulatory models and reports in Adaptive Insights/Office Connect in order to support regulatory, budget and forecast reporting. The Analyst, Regulatory Reporting will also be accountable for becoming Energy Services’ subject matter expert in Adaptive Insights and Office Connect tools and provide support to both the Energy Services’ Finance and Operations teams to learn how to use the tools.The Analyst, Regulatory Reporting is also accountable for providing routine financial analysis and month end support to the Energy Services Finance team. This includes ensuring that financial results, forecasts and budgets are accurate.What you’d be responsible for

  • Supporting the Senior Analyst, Regulatory Reporting in developing and implementing the budget, forecast and regulatory processes including:
    • preparation of instructions and templates using Adaptive Office Connect for operation groups,
    • preparation and maintenance of the Product Line Statement and the Cost allocation model to present Energy Services consolidated results and;
    • coordinate with operation groups for collecting information relating to budget assumptions and inputs and timely upload of the budget assumptions and inputs in Adaptive
  • Support the Energy Service finance team in monthly financial analysis including:
    • preparation of account reconciliations,
    • preparation of monthly expense and cost recovery accruals,
    • summarization of costs and preparation request for invoices and;
    • summarization of monthly account variances
  • Developing report building and other Adaptive skills in order to fully leverage Adaptive capabilities for forecasting, budgeting, regulatory and other reporting purposes.
  • Use Adaptive Insights and Office Connect expertise to train both Energy Services Finance and Operations teams on effective use of the Adaptive Insights and Office Connect tools.
  • Support testing the Adaptive Insights and Office Connect regulatory models and reports to ensure accuracy of results.
  • Undertaking or assisting with Energy Services finance projects as required.
  • Support testing SAP enhancements and bugs to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
What’s required to be successful
  • Post-secondary diploma in accounting, finance, economics, statistics or related area
  • Bachelor Degree would be considered an asset
  • Four to Six (4-6) years of experience in a corporate environment with strong knowledge of major financial application system such as Oracle, SAP or major budgeting tool like Adaptive Insights
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry and regulatory environment would be considered an asset
  • Advanced understanding of:
    • Enterprise Resource Planning system functionality,
    • Business processes and process redesign and;
    • IT systems
  • Advance MS Excel skills including modeling and reporting
  • Basic understanding of accounting concepts and experience with working on budgets and forecast
  • Experience with budgeting software (e.g. Adaptive Insights, Office Connect, Hyperion, etc.)
  • Experience preparing regulatory cost of services and compliance reporting would be considered an asset
  • Advance user of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Power Point
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build working relations with both internal and external customers
