Job Description

CUE is an institution that values research in the sciences, social sciences, humanities and management.CUE’s Faculty of Arts invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor, Sociology, in the Department of Social Sciences. The area of specialization is open but expertise in quantitative methodology is required.This position is held within Concordia’s Department of Social Sciences. This department comprises the disciplines of economics, sociology, political science, history, and Indigenous studies. The department’s particular research strengths include transnational social and political movements, Indigenous history in Canada, and sociology of health and religion.The successful candidate will teach courses in social science methodology, quantitative analysis, and social statistics. There is also an opportunity to develop new courses in the successful candidate’s field of expertise.This position is available to begin January 1, 2023, or thereafter.Qualifications:

  • PhD (or PhD ABD) in Sociology or a related Social Science discipline.
  • Experience using statistical or quantitative analysis software such as Stata, SPSS, or similar
  • A willingness and ability to take on academic administrative duties.
  • Excellence in both research and teaching, or strong potential to develop such excellence.
The normal undergraduate teaching assignment is 6 credit hours a week per semester in the first year and 9 credit hours a week per semester for subsequent years. CUE provides opportunities for reductions in teaching to pursue research.
