Job Description

Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for almost 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for an EXPERIENCED BACKHOE OPERATOR to join our team to finish out the 2024 road construction season. This position operates on a 6 day work week (Monday - Saturday with the occasional Sunday) with a shift of 8 - 12 hours a day, This is a full time seasonal position that offers a competitive wage with benefits. The primary duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure “pre-trips” and all Daily Equipment Checklists are completed daily and any equipment concerns are addressed to your foreman.
  • Complete all daily maintenance on equipment required for continued safe functioning.
  • Efficiently move material: dumping, placing, and loading of material into trucks.
  • Hauling trailers, equipment, cement, or construction materials, in accordance with all safe work practices and legal regulations/
In addition, you may be asked to perform general labour duties as needed. These tasks could include but are not limited to:
  • Performs general labourer work: digging, shoveling, raking, hammering pins, sweeping, operating small compaction gear (jumping jacks, tampers, etc.), using a concrete chop saw, and other labour activities associated with constructing the required project.
  • Placement of construction materials (by hand or use of equipment)
  • Setup, check, and compact granular base materials to meet construction specifications required for the project.
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites.
  • Raise and lower catch basins, manholes, and water valves, as required.
