Job Description

You will work primarily with portfolio management, trading, and investment research systems including Calypso and Charles River. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely valuation of AIMCo’s $168B investment portfolio.The Operations team is looking for a candidate with expertise in capital markets, including knowledge of the trade lifecycle, portfolio management and trading processes, and financial products like equities, fixed income securities, and derivative instruments. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of the operations of an institutional asset manager along with understanding of software development practices, and systems and infrastructure needed to support the day-to-day needs of fund management.Responsibilities

  • Work directly with a wide variety of business stakeholders, including portfolio managers, traders, compliance, and other middle-office and back-office teams
  • Work closely with the other Business Technology (BT) teams and stakeholders to facilitate the successful completion of initiatives and projects
  • Assist project delivery teams on execution of projects when required
  • Provide analytical, consultative, and technical services to support development and maintenance of business processes and workflows for Charles River and Calypso
  • Provide expertise in interface development and architectural integration between applications
  • Identify and communicate potential risks and possible solutions to ongoing projects
  • Identify and seek areas of improvement and automation for repeatable tasks and processes
  • Designing, configuring, integrating, and maintaining applications and interfaces using various programming languages and tools
  • Identifying and communicating potential risks and possible solutions to ad hoc and ongoing projects

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Finance, Computing Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years’ experience developing and maintaining source code for Java applications using technologies such as Eclipse, Azure DevOps, Maven, Git, Ant and Gradle; this is considered an asset but not a requirement
  • 5+ years of experience with a variety of development languages and frameworks including SQL (T-SQL & Oracle), Python, .NET and scripting languages; this is considered an asset but not a requirement
  • Exposure to the investment industry and knowledge of various financial instrument life cycle events is considered an asset
  • Thorough understanding of a wide variety of financial instruments, including equities, fixed income securities, options, futures, forwards, and swaps
  • Knowledge of ITIL, DevOps and Agile methodologies would be beneficial
  • Familiarity with SimCorp Dimension, Bloomberg, Charles River, Calypso, Eagle, Murex, Barra and/or integration platforms like TIBCO is considered an asset

Success MeasuresAs a Business Systems Analyst, you will have achieved a strong understanding of AIMCo’s investment workflows and lifecycle events within the first year and become a subject matter expert with Charles River and/or Calypso. You will have built strong relationships with business stakeholders and users of our systems and will be regarded as a trusted subject-matter expert that is capable of addressing and resolving issues and requests for the benefit of our clients.Benefits and Rewards
