  • Terra Centre for Teen Parents
The North East Community Hub is an initiative of the C5 collaborative located at 14023 Victoria Trail. The Hub offers integrated programming and supports, including a community gathering space with a collective kitchen for residents of North East Edmonton.This position will be attached to Boyle Street Community Services as the fiscal agent of the C5 North East Hub. As the first person everyone communicates with when contacting the C5 North East Hub, the RSP is instrumental in making sure everyone has a positive experience while receiving correct information and supportive guidance in order to connect with both internal and external individuals, services and programs.RSP’s provide outstanding face-to-face and phone reception, administrative and welcoming services to all community members from a variety of backgrounds, and various stakeholders the C5 works with on a regular basis.They possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and can easily connect and relate to others in a positive way, and have a passion for people and addressing their immediate needs while making them feel comfortable and validated, maintaining a high level of professionalism.Collaborative work can be messy. The successful candidate, therefore, must be comfortable with ambiguity, working within an environment that is highly collaborative - and willing to take initiative and risks to create solutions and try new ways of working.Specific Responsibilities include:Reception:
  • Complete Intake and referrals for community members
  • Answer all calls coming in on the main switch board, taking telephone messages for staff that are not available and referring callers on to other staff where appropriate
  • Provide an efficient and friendly reception service for visitors to C5 North East Hub, maintaining an accurate knowledge of staff and programming, and appropriately directing enquires
  • Expand the Hub’s ability to be a welcoming and inclusive space for families in North East Edmonton
Communication:
  • Show empathy, understanding and rapport when communicating with clients, visitors to the C5 North East Hub and fellow staff by actively listening, asking probing questions and giving information accurately and clearly
  • Support client intake processes by screening clients to determine eligibility for C5 North East Hub programs and services, and making supported referrals for them with the appropriate person, organization or program
  • Make supported referrals to resources outside of C5 North East Hub. Supported referrals may be: providing written information to the client, or making a phone call to a resource to establish and introductory relationship with the outside resource
Information Gathering:
  • Keep up to date on information by resourcefully collecting program and people information. Being resourceful means asking for updates and researching information when it has not been directly provided; and documenting, printing, and displaying information relevant to community members and stakeholders
Documentation:
  • Replenish stationery, photocopy paper and kitchen supplies to stock levels set by Site Manager
  • Assist clients in completing required registration documents and ensure document are properly processed, filed, and secured for privacy reasons
  • Input Data daily
Collaboration:
  • Promote and participate in various cultural activities, including Indigenous Ceremony and community gatherings
  • Contribute to supporting the collaborative relationships necessary for success
QualificationsEducation:Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, mental health or health-related field, human services administration or similar; or related work experience. Completion of the Brain Story certification – or experience incorporating the Brain Story into practice and a commitment to finalizing certification.Experience:
  • Experience in the social services sector or in community development with marginalized community members for at least two years and you are a passionate advocate for vulnerable families
  • Working with Indigenous and multicultural communities and are committed to growing your cultural learnings.
Abilities, attitudes and other requirements:
  • Effective interpersonal skills, strong emotional intelligence and communication abilities: you know how to use your diplomatic skills to resolve difficult conversations
  • Highly organized and self-accountable
  • Committed to strengths-based practice and working within each family’s unique cultural context
  • Criminal Record and Child Intervention Checks (results will be reviewed on a case by case basis)
