Specialisterne Canada is recruiting!Specialisterne Canada specializes in working with businesses to hire people who identify as neurodivergent[1]. Presently, Specialisterne Canada is working with Canadian National Railway to recruit for multiple positions in Edmonton, AB.Specialisterne Canada provides recruitment, staffing solutions and management support to businesses interested in creating a more neurodiverse workforce. We help managers understand the strengths of their employees and implement strategies to help them thrive in the workplace.Canadian National Railway (CN) is a leading North American transportation and logistics company. The CN team is made up of approximately 24,000 railroaders that transports more than C$250 billion worth of goods annually for a wide range of business sectors, ranging from resource products to manufactured products to consumer goods, across a rail network of approximately 20,000 route-miles spanning Canada and mid-America.Descriptions of the roles are provided below.Role DescriptionFleet Planning OfficerFull-Time, PermanentEdmonton, AB- HybridCore Tasks:

  • Using Excel, review fleet size from the published monthly report to note changes from previous month and account for any discrepancies
  • Review car cycles by using an existing query, Excel and SAP Business Objects to note the impact of measurable changes from month-to-month and year-over year
  • Analyze changes in car velocity (miles per day) by fleet/region every day using SAP Business Objects
  • Using Microsoft Access and SQL software, write custom queries to pull data from car history tables and databases to get historical records on railcars to help answer questions and show trends
  • Conduct Root-Cause analysis in order to respond to internal questions
  • Using Tableau or PowerBI, build dashboards in order to show trends
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma with certificate in data analytics, math, economics, computer engineering or a related field
  • Experience (academic, professional or personal) with SQL (DB2 and Netezza)
  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience (academic, professional or personal) with big data
  • Experience (academic, professional or personal) with statistics
Nice to have (not required):
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in data analytics, math, economics, computer engineering or a related field
  • Experience (academic, professional or personal) with R
  • Experience (academic, professional or personal) with Microsoft Access
  • French proficiency
Performance Analytics DeveloperFull-Time, PermanentEdmonton, AB- HybridCore Tasks:
  • Conduct Ad-Hoc analysis on performance at CN by data mining, data translating and presenting data via visual aids
  • Create reports about operational efficiency and performance utilizing Tableau, PowerBI and .NET applications
  • Provide data to regulatory agencies such as: Transport Canada and Service Transportation Board
  • Act as a liaison between internal departments by creating, distributing and validating reports
  • Provide insights and answer questions about operating metrics for internal use
  • Collaborate with other departments (Finance, Marketing, HR, etc.) on an assortment of cross-functional projects/reports
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Access
  • Intermediate skill level with SQL
  • Intermediate skill level with Tableau, PowerBI, or SAP Business Objects
  • Experience (academic, professional or personal) with database and software development
Nice to have (not required):
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in logistics, computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of the railway industry
  • Knowledge/experience with logistics
  • French proficiency
