Job Description

OpportunityThe Private Investment Operations (PIO) and Real Estate Financial Operations (REFO) have joined forces to recruit two students to share in their respective areas. If you enjoy building meaningful relationships and enjoy solving problems together and supporting your fellow team members – this may be the opportunity for you.Private Investment Operations (PIO) is responsible for the settlement of capital funding and distribution transactions, quarterly market value update, monthly reporting, and preparation of IFRS financial statements for private investments including private equity, infrastructure, timberland, private debt, hedge funds and private placement.The Real Estate Financial Operations (REFO) is responsible for the collection and reporting of property level financial results and the financial statement consolidation activities of AIMCo’s Real Estate investment holding vehiclesResponsibilities

  • Assist in processing invoices and settlement of investment transactions
  • Performing bank and various investment reconciliations and ad-hoc accounting or operation tasks
  • Applying accounting principles and analyzing financial data received directly from investments and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment
  • Assist in the execution of projects under the direction of senior team members
  • Assist in developing accounting procedures and establishing standard operating procedures for financial reporting of property activities
  • Applying accounting principles and analyzing financial data by assisting Senior Accountants with collection of property financial data from the external managers on a monthly basis; upload to Yardi Voyager accounting system, review, validate, and reconcile to AIMCo investment records and property financial statements.
  • Assists Accounts Payable Analyst in timely processing of invoices related to AIMCo Realty Investors LP (ARI) in Yardi Voyager and submission of expense payment data to the portfolio accounting system (SimCorp Dimension)
  • Assists in the execution of projects under the direction of the Manager, Domestic Real Estate.
  • Assists in developing accounting procedures and establishing standard operating procedures for financial reporting of property activities.
  • Performing bank and various investment reconciliations and ad-hoc accounting functions
  • Performing GST/HST reconciliation and filing
  • Maintaining the filing system and supporting the REFO team as required
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Completion of third year undergraduate studies in accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to details and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Quick and adaptable learner
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Previous bookkeeping and/or accounting experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards and Canadian GAAP (ASPE) are an asset
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, prepare financial reports, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on information presented
