Job Description

OpportunityThe Collateral Management Analyst is responsible for supporting the Collateral Management team’s daily operations and initiatives including counterparty risk management, liquidity operations and securities lending analysis. The Analyst will work closely with the team and internal clients to ensure counterparty collateral obligations are satisfied.As the collateral functionality continues to broaden within the organization, the Analyst will be expected to agree and process daily collateral movements and improve processes within the department. These efficiencies will be developed through involvement in regulatory projects, providing back-up support to the Senior Analysts, knowledge of investment instruments, and programming skills.Responsibilities

  • Initiate and respond to margin calls with counterparties for all margin-based strategies including Derivative, Repo and Futures trades
  • Calculate net exposures across a multi pool trading strategy, while managing the inventory of all collateral positions against counterparties
  • Investigate and resolve margin call disputes with counterparties
  • Optimize collateral movements through rehypothecation and securities lending analysis in an effective manner.
  • Record trade transactions into the Collateral Management application, and the accounting book of record.
  • Prepare daily collateral reporting for Front Office and Senior Management.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and first point of contact on the collateral management application.
  • Document procedures/business processes and calculate interest allocations on a monthly basis.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Statistics or a related field.
  • CFA designation or enrollment in the program is an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience working with investment concepts, practices, analysis and product types (futures, securities lending, derivatives, repo, equity finance etc.)
  • Solid understanding of collateral management workflow.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, VBA, SQL and Calypso would be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to foster collaborative relationships amongst internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and ability to manage varied work priorities. .
