Defines the management, goal definitions, target setting and leadership of the Project Management team and is responsible for the business objectives under this scope of responsibilities.What You Will Do

  • Work closely with Engineering, Project Controls, Project Accounting, Estimating, and Construction Management teams.
  • Ensure engineering/construction quality is managed in accordance with client specifications.
  • Work closely with the Edmonton Engineering team to resolve site engineering and construction related technical issues.
  • Prepare engineering estimates, trends, engineering work packages (EWPs) and construction work packages (CWPs) for various projects.
  • Interpret engineering data and provide analytical solutions.
  • Create and monitor project cost controls and a working budget. Prepare a monthly budget report. Develop a schedule to be utilized in the preparation of progress billings, ensuring accurate invoicing and timely receipt of payments.
  • Supervise the installation of construction contracts. Monitor job progress, maintain communication and report findings with Construction Manager and all appropriate stakeholders.
  • Responsible for manning and designation of construction crews composition required for installation and construction contracts.
  • Required to take immediate action on any problems or changes that occur within the project. Identify the cause and effect and take necessary actions to correct problems. Notify the Project Designer and Construction Manager of factors that will impact the installation and construction contracts.
  • Prepare data which reflects actual materials provided and labor expended in the installation of construction contracts.
  • Serve as a first contact for customers.
Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical is preferred.
  • Preference to candidates who are registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta by APEGA or will be eligible to be licensed by APEGA.
  • Successful track record of leading, coordinating, and documenting meetings.
  • Proven experience with the technical and commercial management of engineering, procurement, maintenance, and construction activities; and experience with cost estimating, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Experience managing multi discipline projects in industrial construction project management or leading "Engineer to Order" and "Configure to Order" Operations with high levels of customer service is a plus.
  • Heat Trace Design experience and product knowledge is a strong asset.

  • Strong cross-cultural communicator and relationship builder at all levels of internal and client organization(s) with the ability to work effectively across functions
  • Well-developed business acumen and be able to balance a strategic focus with the ability to dig into the details administratively and drive day-to-day performance
  • Strong operations leader with additional experience in other areas such as manufacturing, engineering, R&D, business, and market development
  • Proven collaborator and relationship building.
  • Experience in at least one significant heavy industrial EPC/EPCM project is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of industry standards such as electrical codes such as the CEC, NEC or certification standards such as CSA, UL, IEC is a plus.
  • Proficiency with project management and accounting tools.
  • Ability to manage cost account management and reporting.
  • Ability to travel 30% mostly domestic visiting job site locations.
