King’s currently servesover 900 students of all ages from a variety of backgrounds from across Canada and abroad, representing awide variety of nations.Coordinator of Intercultural Student ProgramsFull-time, Temporary 1-year (Parental Leave)POSITION SUMMARYThe Intercultural Student Program assists international and indigenous students at The King’s University byproviding opportunities for students from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds to adjust touniversity life. The Coordinator of Intercultural Student Programs fosters intercultural understanding andsensitivity on campus by developing material, hosting experiences, and offering training to students, staff,and faculty, helping to foster King’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.The Coordinator of Intercultural Student Programs (CISP) is responsible for implementing, andevaluating holistic, co-curricular, Christ-centered international and indigenous student programs whichaligns with King’s mission to “bring renewal and reconciliation to every walk of life as followers of JesusChrist, the Servant-King.”KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Foster opportunities for belonging within inclusive communities which inspire growth, well-being, and
spiritual development to equip students to be active in their community and world.o Develop an annual multicultural programming plan and vision in collaboration with student lifeo Participate in the recruitment, supervision, and mentorship of student leaderso Create multicultural student experienceso Maintain and plan a yearly budget
  • Promote diversity and understanding throughout King’s, ensuring that International and indigenous
students gain acceptance and are positively regarded.o Remain up to date on all areas that affect international and multi-cultural students, includingbut not limited to government regulations, cultural sensitivities, and cultural awarenesso Maintain and develop content on the International Student’s web pageo Liaise with all departments that work closely with international students, educating individualsas requiredo Raise awareness of international cultures at King’so Serve as a member of the Indigenous Initiative Circle
  • Advocate and provide holistic support for all students who identify as people of color or Indigenous
o Build personal relationships with international and indigenous students, supporting thestudents and connecting them within the King’s communityo Mentor international and indigenous students acting as a trusted advisor and referring them toother service providers as appropriateo Advise and collaborate international student clubs and groups, such as the South AsianStudents ClubQUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree Excellent communication and organizational skills Strong interpersonal relationship and crisis management skills Cross-cultural experience required Familiarity with Canadian immigration law an asset Experience with Student Affairs in a post-secondary environment Self-motivated and able to work in a collaborative teamPosition will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
