Job Description

Contract Cost Analyst Reporting directly to the Contract and Claims Manager, the Contracts Cost Analyst will support project leads in area of cost controlling, variance analysis, forecasting, contracts administration, job costing, accounts receivable billings and reporting. As the Contracts Cost Analyst, you will be responsible for all contract administration processes from the time a job is awarded until job completion of warranty period.Essential Responsibilities

  • Review for accuracy all contract documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders prior to setup
  • Prepare, review, and adjust weekly cost reports
  • Review estimated costs and contract pay items to ensure accuracy
  • Review deficiency holdback amounts, deficiency allowances, reserves, survey assistance costs, asphalt/concrete penalty reserves, or any other job-related expenses
  • Approve monthly Subcontract Progress Claims for payments
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress claims
  • Project invoice / billing development and accuracy for correct collection of revenues
  • Monitor the performance of the job versus current forecast by analyzing actual data, reviewing project costs overruns/under runs, and producing appropriate reporting for project teams
  • Evaluate status of the project cost, provide most accurate total Project Forecast ensuring inclusion of all cost categories
  • Support maintenance and development of cost control systems, tools and procedures
  • Working with the Manager of Contracts and Claims, to meet departmental service obligations to the organization and the strategic goals/objectives of the department
Qualifications
  • 5 years’ experience in a contract cost analyst position
  • Degree, Diploma or Professional Certification in Business Administration / Accounting or equivalent; ideally with some post-secondary business education
  • Consideration will be given to those without post-secondary education based on experience exceeding 5 years
  • Must be proficient in the use of a computer and other standard office productivity tools
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
  • Must be able to learn new programs quickly (specifically, construction accounting and project estimating software)
  • Contract law and document conditions experience
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate/express and apply basic technical, business or contract administrative concepts
  • Ability to think innovatively, offering creative solutions to problems with the ability to anticipate business issues and align operational priorities.
  • Self-starter, detailed orientated
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.
  • Proven experience of learning the business, making relationships matter and having a development mindset.
  • Experience in developing & implementing costing program/practice management and validation.
  • Accepts coaching, knowledge, and support from more experienced staff.
