Job Description

Council AssistantJob Number : 44069This is a unique opportunity to work closely with City of Edmonton Ward O-day’min Councillor Anne Stevenson. As a part-time Council Assistant, you will be part of a team working together in a fast-paced environment to support the Councillor and the community she serves. This position covers a wide range of duties such as: Constituent Support:

  • Receive and process constituent concerns in a timely manner over the phone, by email and in-person
  • Liaise with City Administration to problem-solve constituent issues and ensure prompt service to residents
Administrative Support:
  • Process mail, invitations, and correspondence
  • Assist with scheduling for the City Councillor
  • Update and maintain constituent files
  • Oversee and prepare travel arrangements as needed
Communication and Research Support:
  • Coordinate ward communications, advertisements, and newspaper articles
  • Update the Councillor’s website and monitor various social media applications
  • Conduct research on varying topics that impact constituents
Qualifications :Here are the characteristics we think you’ll need to excel with these tasks:
  • Ability to adapt and respond to evolving situations
  • Experience in working with the public, handling conflict, and listening constructively in a professional and courteous manner
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, including the ability to handle large volumes of calls and correspondence with sensitive timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly conduct research on topics as needed and succinctly report to the councillor and constituents
  • Excellent written communication skills with accuracy in spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Comfort with social media accounts such as Facebook and other platforms is an asset
  • Discretion when handling confidential information
  • Excellent computer proficiency using Google products for word processing, database management and calendar management
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and self-direct your work with minimal supervision
