We’re looking for a part-time contractor, based in Canada, to join our weekend Real-Time Coverage team! As a Crisis Analyst, you will use human curation to support our AI-first approach to alerts by gathering and corroborating social media chatter.Who we areSamdesk is a global disruption monitoring tool that delivers real-time crisis alerts powered by AI.   • You are an engaged and enthusiastic individual who is keen to help deliver samdesk’s high standard of direct client alerts.
  • You are interested in breaking news and current affairs and understand the value of social media newsgathering, fact-finding and verification.
  • You are a skilled multi-tasker who is able to balance competing priorities.
  • You take responsibility for maintaining attention to detail while working at a fast pace.
  • You are self-motivated and confident working independently and remotely as part of a globally distributed team.
  • This is a remote position, therefore candidates based anywhere in Canada may be considered for this role.
What you’ll doThe successful candidate will join our real-time coverage team and support the weekend operations of samdesk.
  • You’ll be responsible for the quality of our data output (alerts, content, information), and ensuring that what customers see is timely and relevant.
  • You’ll help deliver our service throughout the weekend, in conjunction with existing team members.
  • You’ll help us to understand which events are of higher impact and relevance to our customers, and use your experience and judgment to prioritize.
  • You’ll be responsible for collecting information in real-time, verifying it, and building out the breadth and depth of our clients understanding of events.
Were looking for someone with:A degree (or studying towards a degree) in a relevant field such as political science, international affairs, security, journalism etc, with an interest in real-time analysis, OSINT, journalism, and/or crisis management.Salary:$23 CAD per hourSchedule:Approx. 12 hours per week (2x6 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday ).
